...making Linux just a little more fun!

Hello all,
GIMP plugins extend GIMP, we know that.
Is there any way to make GIMP plugins themselves extensible. My point here is that, can we make a GIMP plugin which allows itself modifiable by a end-user to include a new functionality without much of a hassle on part of the end-user. Does any one know of a method to do this or any GIMP plugin which already does this?
I would appreciate even the slightest of insights.
Thanks a lot!
Regards

'Slightest' is about all I could give you, but - many GIMP plugins are certainly configurable (e.g., allow you to specify line width, aliasing algorithm, font, etc.) Where do you draw the line between "new functionality" and "configurability"? Give us an example of what you're asking for, and your question may become answerable. Otherwise, it's sort of like asking if the ocean can be used to wash dishes (the answer is "yes", but the details of implementation vary.)
