...making Linux just a little more fun!

Hello all,
I have installed the Ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit) beta on my 32-bit notebook and Ubuntu 8.04 (64-bit) on a friend's 64-bit laptop. I am using Acer laptops.
In both cases, using the touchpad to click (single/double-click) is pretty troublesome, and needs a rather "hard" hit on the pad. I have tried setting the mouse preferences similarly to the one on Ubuntu 7.04 (which I use), but to no avail.
Any hints?
Regards, Amit

I had a similar problem a few years ago with an Acer. If you have a Synaptics touchpad (which mine did), you need to tweak the sensitivity setting in your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'. A quick Net search comes up with:
http://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad
Although I would stick with doing the manual config part of that. That way, you'd know what got changed. Oh, and make sure to keep a backup of the original file, just in case.

I installed 'gsynaptics' after following the above link. I am trying to tweak the sensitivity to my liking with it. Let's hope I get there.
Thanks, Amit
